He's spending $12 million in key states, targeting pro-gun lawmakers. And he's threatening to make them "pay a price" if they don't vote for more gun control.
The issue here is universal background checks. Few people are against the idea of keeping criminals and crazies from getting their hands on guns. But universal background checks are another thing altogether.
Federal law bars the government from keeping a federal gun registry. Background checks for guns should be done on a state by state basis. I would be strongly against any attempt to change the current situation giving the federal government mroe control over what guns you can and cannot have, or giving the government any more power to build lists of the things Americans buy.
Closing Note: Isn't it ironic the way the left often comes after wealthy people on the right who wade into political issues by spending their own money? Funny, they don't seem too upset at the veiled threats and massive spending of Bloomberg to meddle with the bill of rights.
