Crews Are Assessing To Determine Restoration Times
Richmond, VA(1140wrva.com) – UPDATE: The winter storm that dumped as much as 2 feet of snow in parts of Virginia also claimed three lives, two due to automobile accidents and one due to a falling tree.
Dominion Virginia Power crews are still assessing the damage from the winter storm that knocked out power to about 370,000 in virginia. By afternoon 100,000 were still without power, most of them in western Virginia which was hardest hit by the storm. Crews from out of state are helping with the work, which could take several days.
Dominion expects to restore service by Friday night for more than 95 percent of customers whose power was disrupted.

If you have lost power in the snowstorm, it could be some time before it is restored. Dominion Spokeswoman Daisy Pridgen says it could be tomorrow before they are able to determine restoration times.
Pridgen says they have crews out in the field, working right now. However, winds and snow, and wet ground have made it easier from trees to fall into power lines. She says that has been the main cause of many of the outages.
Pridgen does ask customers to call and report their outages. The Charlottesville area was the hardest hit in Dominion's service territory. In Richmond, Midlothian took the greatest hit.
