Snow And Cold Reopened Roads

Richmond, VA (1140wrva.com) – VDOT has begun a "pothole blitz" to fix road problems opened up by the recent snowstorm.  Freezing, thawing, and plowing has lead to several potholes on heavily traveled roads.

VDOT Spokeswoman Dawn Eischen says they were actually working to fill many potholes prior to the storm Wednesday, but the storm created new issues.  Freezing and thawing can cause cracks to spread, and open further.

The good news is VDOT has not used all of its snow removal money.  If it is not used up, money from that budget can be used for maintenance, including pothole repair.
