Says Senate Has Already Compromised
Washington, D.C. (1140wrva.com) – Calling today worse than my worst day as Governor in Richmond, Senator Mark Warner (D) called on the U.S. House of Representatives to compromise and end the budget standoff. Warner takes pains not to blame all Republicans for the stand-off, but says it is a wing of the party that is holding things up.
Warner says the Senate has already compromised, by agreeing the House's lower level of spending. He says the Senate cannot compromise any further, because it would only reward this type of behavior (his words), and the same tactics would be used over raising the debt ceiling.
Warner has long preached for an overall plan that would lower spending, including tax reform, and entitlement reform.
